A Hereford venue has cancelled an event because of rising Covid cases.

The Left Bank was to host a night with Outbound Records on Saturday (July 24), but both have now called it off, despite the Government lifting restrictions on nightclubs.

Outbound Records said they are “gutted”, but they feel like is it “the morally right thing to do.”

They added: “Thank you for your continued support. We will be back to fight another day!”

People can now claim back their tickets via www.eventbrite.co.uk.

Gary Waring, owner of the Left Bank, said previously: “We don’t think nightclubs should be open at the moment. We think it’s the wrong decision, and we don’t want to be a part of it.

“Statistically, some people attending will have the virus. The Left Bank feel a responsibility to the public and their staff. It doesn’t make sense for people to be so close together in a confined space,” he said.

Outbound Records agreed it was the right thing to do.

“They were very good about it. We’re very impressed with them,” Mr Waring said.

Play nightclub Hereford plan to hold events all weekend, and tickets are sold out.

The Left Bank will review plans in weeks to come, but for now with the number of cases rising they will not be holding any events in their Speakeasy room.

They have also kept their tables at a Covid-safe distance, and encourage people to be outside to maximise safety of their customers.
