A MAN from South Wales has died and two people are in hospital following last night's (January 3) crash on the A465.
Emergency services were called at 9.05pm following the two-car collision near Wormbridge Court Farm.
A blue Peugeot 106, heading towards Abergavenny, and a red Rover 414 travelling in the opposite direction were involved.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged, and police, fire and ambulance staff attended.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 46-year-old from Glamorgan, died at the scene.
The front passenger, a 14-year-old boy, from Powys, suffered facial, chest and back injuries.
West Midlands Ambulance Service do not know whether the pair are related.
The teenager was taken by ambulance to Hereford County Hospital with the driver of the Rover. She is a 25-year-old woman from south Herefordshire, who suffered serious chest and ankle injuries.
According to West Mercia police spokesperson, Neil Tipton, the road between Lock's Garage and the Abbeydore junction was closed until 5.20am while investigations took place.
The police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have seen either vehicle beforehand.
They are asked to contact PC Darren Collett at Hereford Police Station on 08457 444888 quoting 544-s of January 3.
