RECYCLING, reuse, and community engagement will be key to Herefordshire’s new waste strategy, expected to be complete in September, councillors have said.
Herefordshire’s coalition councillor Gemma Davies, cabinet member for waste said: "I have committed to working with community groups across the county to identify ways in which the council deals with waste in preparation for the launch of our waste strategy in September and we are also hoping to have pilots starting soon on recycling hubs in our waste sites."
Coun Davies said she was delighted that she had managed to help Herefordshire Community Reuse and Recycling Group secure a free licence for the use of Widemarsh Pavillion in 2019. After protracted negotiations with Herefordshire Council, the councillor has finally managed to find and secure the group a site at Rotherwas to expand the growing recycling and reuse service they offer Herefordshire residents.

"Community groups like HCRRG and businesses like Pedicargo, which offer paper, cardboard and plastic recycling are vital to how we move forward with our county waste strategy," said Coun Davies.
"We look forward to further developing good relations with these groups as we implement sustainable and circular waste systems for Herefordshire. I’d especially like to send thanks to all of the incredible volunteers who give up their time for free to help Herefordshire aim for zero waste."
