A NIGHT under the stars has raised thousands of pounds for a Herefordshire charity.

The Cart Shed are delighted to announce that, as of Monday, June 14, The Big Sleep In 2021 has raised over £14,500.

A spokesperson said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated and everyone who took part. Your generosity will directly impact the number of young people and adults in Herefordshire that we can support.

"Special thanks go to two of our trustees, David Hunt and Bill Jackson, and to the High Sheriff of Herefordshire and her posse. In swapping their beds for a night, in addition to raising money for The Cart Shed, they have shone a light on the work that we do: providing therapeutic support for people with mental health issues through a range of outdoor activities and crafts."

The High Sheriff of Herefordshire, Joanna Hilditch, was joined by Bishop of Hereford, the last four High Sheriffs and the two 'in-wating' for a night under the stars overlooking an orchard.

The local support they received kept them motivated despite the inclement weather and the incredible £10,000 (and counting) that they raised is going to be shared equally between The Cart Shed and the Herefordshire Community Foundation.

Quality sleep is the kindest, most natural way to ensure our emotions are as resilient as they need to be.

The Big Sleep In is The Cart Shed's annual campaign to remind us of the importance of a good night's sleep by getting creative for a night and resting our heads somewhere out of the ordinary - for example in a blanket fort, on a trampoline or in a tent. You can join in May 2022 for the next #TheBigSleepIn.
