THE FIANCEE of a man found in the river Wye after a two-week missing persons search has paid tribute to his 'beautiful soul'.

Described by fiancee Sally Diamante as a beautiful soul, passionate former teacher Steven John Tattum was found dead on June 1 by search and rescue teams during a search of the river in Hereford.

The 47-year-old had last been seen near the city's Greyfriars Bridge at around 2.40am on May 19, with a search launched after his disappearance.

Mr Tattum, who lived in Hereford's Highmore Street, leaves behind his fiancee, mum, dad, three sisters, and their families.

A keen watch collector, Mr Tattum enjoyed walks and picnics in the park, doing crosswords, and visiting garden centres for coffees.

He had spent his career teaching maths to primary pupils at Burford School in Oxfordshire and at schools in Birmingham, retiring in 2018.

Mr Tattum will be privately cremated, while a memorial service was held for him by his fiancee on June 9.
