ACCORDING to Garry Cullen (Letters, June 10), overpopulation is the biggest contributor to global warming.
However, it has become clear to me in the 70 years I have been on this earth, that the real problem is over-consumption and waste.
Fifty years ago we survived perfectly well without factory farming of land and seas: factory chickens, farmed salmon and tuna, for example.
We ate a lot less and were a lot smaller. Our cars were a third of the size of SUVs and took up less space on the roads. We survived without plastic.
As we look to the future, we can learn from the past and face up to the fact that we are causing our own misery.
