RESURFACING work will be carried out on a main road in Hereford next month, with a contraflow system in place.

Highways England, which manages the A49 through Herefordshire, said the overnight works would start on Monday, June 14.

The A49 will be shut across Greyfriars Bridge as part of the works, but when the northbound carriageway is closed vehicles will be able to use the southbound carriageway.

The same applies for when the southbound carriageway is closed, vehicles will be able to use the other side of the road.

The roadworks will be between the Steels and Asda roundabouts, it said.

Highways England also said no vehicles will be able to enter or exit side roads between these locations during the overnight works, which will take place for around three weeks from June 14.

During the closures, traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights and diverted via the alternative carriageway.
