A POPULAR Hereford restaurant will not be reopening as lockdown eases, the owners have confirmed.

Turkish restaurant The Meze, in Hereford's West Street, became a popular venue after starting life as a concession in Hereford's Butter Market.

Run by couple Esat and Amber Kurt, the business made the move to its own premises in July 2019.

But in an announcement on social media, the couple have confirmed they will not be reopening their doors to customers.

"We are very sad to say that The Meze will not be able to reopen," the announcement read.

"This is mostly due to the pandemic our location but also to our health. We are very grateful to all our customers followers who supported us during our family venture. Thank you and God bless you all."
