On patrol with Hereford police on first Saturday out of lockdown

By James Thomas

Last updated:

Today is the first Saturday for more than three months where people can sit in a Hereford beer garden and socialise with people outside of their household – and West Mercia Police is on patrol.
  • Pubs, restaurants and cafes were forced to lose in Herefordshire on December 30 when the county was plunged into Tier 3 coronavirus restrictions, with a third national lockdown in England coming in early January.
  • But April 12 marked the second phase of England’s roadmap out of lockdown, with hospitality venues allowed to reopen to serve people outdoors.
  • It means today (April 17) is the first Saturday for more than three months where socialising has been allowed at pubs and bars.
  • We’re out with West Mercia Police in Hereford this evening as they patrol the city centre.
