POPULAR budget supermarket chain Aldi is looking to expand its stores in the coming years, and it wants new branches in and around Herefordshire.

Currently, Aldi is hoping to build new stores across 196 cities, towns and villages in South Wales and South West, West Midlands, and South Central and the Home Counties regions.

In Herefordshire specifically, Aldi is hoping to build a new store in Hereford, but it is also eyeing up Brecon, Great Malvern and Tenbury Wells.

Best of all, you could help the supermarket chain with its expansion and could be sitting on the perfect site or plot of land for one of its supermarkets.

The company has said: "We are continually expanding our property portfolio to help achieve our ever-growing goals for 2022.

"We have ambitious acquisition and development plans beyond that and are looking to acquire sites that meet the property criteria for our standard store format."

Aldi recently opened a new store in Ledbury, which appears to have proved popular with shoppers in the east of the county.

There are also supermarkets in Leominster, Hereford and Ross-on-Wye.

It also wants to build a number of new supermarkets in towns just over the Herefordshire border, which could be useful for those living on the outskirts of the county.

Aldi's site requirements

Aldi's website states they prefer to prefer to purchase "freehold, town centre or edge of centre sites suitable for property development in towns with a population of 15,000 or more."

But have said they are willing to "explore all opportunities including developer led schemes and existing or new retail units."

If you have a site that meets these requirements you can get in touch and agree on a selling price.
