GROUPS and charities providing support through 'post-Covid recovery' have the chance to apply for a grant.

The City of Hereford Rotary Club, in conjunction with Herefordshire Voluntary Organisations Support Service (hvoss), is to launch a Rotary Covid-19 Recovery Grant Scheme.

They will be awarding 10 grants of £250 and five of £500 to local groups and charities who will be providing support as the country comes out of lockdown.

During the pandemic, the City of Hereford Rotary Club supported local families by delivering more than 3,000 food parcels and giving financial assistance to local groups and charities who were able to continue working throughout the lockdowns.

The club had received more than £10,000 in donations to its Covid relief fund in the early days of the pandemic with around half of this having been distributed in a first wave last year.

The rotarians also continued with their international work in Cambodia, Rwanda and End Polio Now.

"As the restrictions are being eased and we begin the post-covid recovery, we would like to support local groups and charities to continue with their vital work," said club president Nick Tecza.

“We were able to support many local charities and groups during the pandemic but we know that many groups were unable to continue with their work during the lockdowns and need funding to restart their vital work.

“We want to be able to support these groups.”

Mr Tecza added that the club had worked closely with hvoss during the pandemic and greatly valued their support in ensuring that this funding will be used to help with the post-covid recovery.

"City of Hereford Rotary continues to provide vital community support to so many and this funding opportunity will further help many groups access much needed funds," added Mr Tecza
