MORE than 200 people have now died with coronavirus in Herefordshire, the latest official figures show.

Office for National Statistics data shows 18 more people have died and had coronavirus mentioned on their death certificate in figures for the most-recent seven-day period.

The ONS data shows across the county 203 deaths involving Covid-19 were registered in Herefordshire up to January 16.

The week before, the toll stood at 185.

Some 115 deaths have happened at hospital, 14 more than were registered up to January 9, and 88 elsewhere.

That includes 77 in care homes, three more than the week before, and seven at private homes, up one compared to the previous week. No more deaths have been recorded in hospices, where there have been four since March.

The figures, published weekly, are based on where Covid-19 is mentioned anywhere on the death certificate. It does not give a location more specific than Herefordshire.

The data includes deaths up to January 8, but registered up to eight days later.

Public Health England figures show that 5,236 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Monday (January 18) in Herefordshire, up from 5,019 the same time on Friday.

It means 636 cases were confirmed in the week to January 18.
