A MEDICAL practice has said they had to 'stand down' vaccinations planned for this weekend as no vaccine was available to them.

Nunwell Surgery as that their 'East Network' practices (Colwall, Cradley, Nunwell and Ledbury Health Partnership) have this week given first vaccinations to over 1,200 patients in our first two priority groups at Ledbury Community Hall.

This included visiting and vaccinating care home residents and care home staff and 'most' of their over 80 year olds.

However, joint practice manager, Vanessa Hargest said that there was no vaccination available to continue this weekend.

"Sadly we are completely in the hands of the distribution supply chain to organise the next tranche," said Mrs Hargest in a Facebook post on behalf of the surgery.

"Despite being requested to mobilise and vaccinate this weekend, which we arranged, we were then stood down.

"Three times this week we have been asked if we could vaccinate next week - we agreed. We cannot as there is currently no vaccine available to us.

"Please be assured we have staff, venue and processes in place to go ahead at a moments notice."

Mrs Hargest has asked that patients do not contact the surgery for enquiries about the vaccine as they are inviting patients in strict eligibility order and will be in touch as soon as they are able.

"This leaves our telephone lines available for poorly patients who need to contact us," she added.

"Thank you to all those who were so kind and patient when we had to cancel their second vaccination appointment for this week - this has directly enabled those care home residents and staff and further patients in the same priority age group to receive their vaccination."
