A MAN threatened to stab his victim in an unprovoked attack in Hereford, a court has heard.

Craig Lovell Foster entered a guilty plea when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford on December 21.

The court heard Foster had assaulted another person by beating in an unprovoked attack in Hereford on August 3, threatening to stab the victim.

The 44-year-old further assaulted a police sergeant acting in the course of his duties in Hereford on November 11 by spitting at him.

Foster also admitted committing a further offence while subject to a 12-month conditional discharge imposed on September 23.

Magistrates said the offences were serious as such behaviour, including spitting during a global pandemic, cannot be tolerated.

Foster, of Rothesay Mead, Hereford, was jailed for a total of four months, suspended for 12 months. He was also made subject to a three-month curfew with electronic tag, an indefinite restraining order, and must complete a six-month drug dependency programme.

He must also pay compensation of £200 to the first victim and £100 to the police officer, costs of £200, and a £128 victim surcharge.
