SEVERAL coronavirus cases have been confirmed at a school in Hereford, meaning staff and pupils will need to self-isolate over the Christmas period.

Pupils and their teachers from three classes at St Martin's Primary School in Hereford have been told to self-isolate for 10 days after the positive cases.

The school, in Hollybush Walk, did not say how many people had tested positive for Covid-19.

In a letter to parents on Monday, executive headteacher Tracey Kneale and head of school Sue Jenkins said three classes were affected.

"We have been made aware that we have several confirmed positive cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) in the year 5 and 6 classes at St Martin’s School," they said.

"We have followed the national guidance and all children and adults in those classes need to self-isolate.

"Year 5 pupils and staff from 5P and 5D will need to isolate until December 30.

"Year 6 pupils and staff from 6CW need to isolate until December 27."

It is the second time the primary school, which has around 360 pupils according to Ofsted, has confirmed coronavirus case.

On November 14, a letter sent to parents said a reception class pupil had tested positive.
