COUNTY planners have approved a scheme to build two homes near Marden.

Mr Vickress’ proposals to build the homes with garages at White Gates Farm in Litmarsh had the support of nine local people but Marden parish council objected to the scheme.

Speaking at yesterday’s (December 16) Herefordshire Council planning and regulatory committee meeting, parish councillor Roderick Lees said the village have seen 110 homes built which surpasses their target for housing.

He said the proposals went against their neighbourhood plan as it was in open countryside and would be outside the settlement boundary.

But Kelly Saunders, a neighbour who spoke for the applicant, said proposals were supported by local people.

“The two new dwellings would be in keeping with the local area.

“All of the residents of Litmarsh are in support of the scheme.

“We believe the development is in accordance with the NDP.”

Ward councillor Kema Guthrie said there was a lot of local support for the proposals but that it conflicted with the NDP.

Councillor Polly Andrews proposed approving the scheme and this was seconded by councillor Elizabeth Foxton.

The scheme was approved with 13 votes for it with one abstention.
