POLICE continue to hold a man in custody as they investigate the discovery of a suspected murder victim near the Herefordshire-Worcestershire border.

And they are keen to hear from anyone who has information about a black BMW X5 seen in the area.

A scene guard is currently in place at a layby in Ankerdine Road, Cotheridge – between Bromyard and Worcester – where a man in his 60s was reportedly found dead in a burned-out car.

Here is what we know so far:

  • On Saturday, December 12 police were called to reports of a car fire in Cotheridge.
  • A man in his 60s was found in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • On Sunday, December 13, a 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
  • On Monday, December 14, police closed a layby in Ankerdine Road to preserve the scene.
  • On Tuesday, December 15, police confirmed the 51-year-old man remains in custody and is "helping with enquiries".

  • Police are asking anyone with any information, including dash cam footage of a black BMW X5 travelling between Stoney Lane, Broadwas, and Ankerdine Road during 5pm and midnight on Saturday, December 12, in particular between 9pm and 9.30pm on Stoney Lane, Broadwas, and the immediate area.
