A LEOMINSTER bingo hall has teamed up with the Co-op to provide a free three-course meal for those in the community who may not have a Christmas meal this year.

This could be caused by many issues such as financial hardship, physically unable to cook the meal and any one who will find themselves alone this Christmas.

Westbury Street's Clifton Bingo and Leominster's Co-op have come together to try to stop this happening, with a Christmas Eve event.

Co-op have provided money for the food through their local charity scheme, while the bingo hall will close for the day on December 24 to host the meal, with staff volunteering to provide Christmas cheer.

General manager Lee Ellsmore said: "This is for all of those going without a Christmas meal, or who are lonely at Christmas. Those of my staff who do not have another job are giving up their time to come in and do some serving. We have lots and lots of space and capacity for three sittings of around 50 people with a maximum of four per table. We are a Covid-secure site and people will need to wear a mask going in and out of the building. Places need to be booked with a contact number for track and trace.

"If people would like to make a donation, we would be very grateful of crackers for the tables, or we will collect cash donations for Leominster Food Bank."

To book, call 01568 612227 or book in person at Clifton Bingo.
