THERE will be changes to bin collections across Herefordshire over the festive period, Herefordshire Council has said.

Bins will be emptied on the usual days, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

For anyone who would normally have their bins emptied on a Friday, there will be no services on December 25. Instead, Herefordshire Council has said the revised collection day will be on Sunday, December 27.

There will also be no collections the following Friday, with people asked to put their bins on the roadside on Saturday, January 2.

"Please ensure bins are put out by 6.30am as collections may be earlier over the festive period," the council told all residents.

Tips around the county will also be closed for three days over the festive period.

A council spokesperson said all sites will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day, with slots available on other days.

"They will be open as usual throughout the rest of the festive period where real Christmas trees can be composted with garden waste.

"Please remember you now need to book a slot to visit your local household waste and recycling centre to dispose of items.

"If you turn up without booking you will not be allowed to enter the site."
