A MOBILE coronavirus testing facility is now available in Llanwrtyd Wells and will be open all next week.

The unit is open at the town’s Ysgol Dolafon, on Dol-y-Coed Road, and is available for anyone who is showing signs and symptoms of coronavirus.

Testing began on Friday, November 27, and the unit will be open until Sunday, December 6, from 09.30am-4.30pm daily.

Coronavirus testing is available for everyone in Powys with symptoms.

Before requesting a test you must have at least one of the following symptoms:

-a new continuous cough

-a high temperature

-loss of or change to sense of smell or taste

-If you develop one of these symptoms follow the self-isolation guidance.

You may be able to choose between home test kits, a mass drive-through testing centre – these are located in Brecon and Newtown, while a local testing site is at Builth Wells, as well as at a mobile testing unit.

You can also apply for a home test kit via the UK Government homepage.

You can apply for a test for yourself or anyone in your household with symptoms. If no tests show available please try again later, as tests become available during the day.

Alternatively, you can call 119 (between 7am and 11 pm).

The Brecon and Newtown sites are managed by the Department of Health and Social Care, while the Builth testing facility is run and staffed by Powys Teaching Health Board.

The slots here are prioritised for patients needing a test prior to an operation or procedure and for residents of mid Powys.

Please use the local booking system to book a test at a local testing site. Call the Powys testing hub on 01874 612228 (9am-5pm Mon-Fri, 10am-3pm Sat-Sun). Email the Powys testing hub at powys.testing@wales.nhs.uk
