TWO people have been arrested after a car failed to stop and threw missiles including potatoes and tools at police.

The incident happened near Llandovery at around 5.30am on Saturday (November 28) when the driver of a dark Peugeot failed to stop for Carmarthenshire Police. The vehicle was pursued by officers when occupants started throwing missiles at officers in an attempt to get away – these included potatoes and various tools.

The vehicle was eventually stopped by officers from Brecon Roads Policing Unit who deployed stingers to disable the vehicle near the village of Halfway.

Powys Roads Policing tweeted: “Driver failed to stop for @CarmsRPU near Llandovery. Stung by Brecon RPU officers near Halfway. 2 in custody for various offences!

“The offenders were using strobe lights to try and distract the pursuing driver & throwing missiles at their police car.

"These turned out to be potatoes and tools. Fortunately only minor damage to police vehicles, and all safe and well!”
