DRIVERS will face a 16-mile diversion between Hereford and Leominster for two nights as the A49 is closed.

Highways England said the road will be closed from 10pm tonight (Wednesday) until 6am on Thursday (November 26) for barrier repairs.

A second overnight closure will also be in place on Thursday night into Friday.

The closure will on the 10-mile stretch of road between the Starting Gate roundabout in Hereford and the A417 junction at Dinmore Hill.

Drivers will be sent on a 16-mile diversion from the roundabout at the top of Holmer Road, along the A4103 to Newtown crossroads before turning left and following the A417 towards Leominster.
