A FULL investigation has been launched and a Hereford man arrested on suspicion of rape after an incident in the city.

A police spokesperson said emergency services received a report that a woman in her 20s had been approached by a man in the St James’ Road area, and that she had been attacked and sexually assaulted just after 2pm on November 19.

Officers were quickly in the area, searches were carried out and as part of their enquiries a 32-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of rape. He currently remains in police custody.

Cordons and scene guards remain in place in St James today at Outfall Works Road, near Bartonsham Farm, on the Vicarage Road footpath, and in Park Street.
