THE number of recorded coronavirus cases in Herefordshire increased by 27 over the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 1,407 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Tuesday (October 27) in Herefordshire, up from 1,380 the same time on Monday.

Some 175 new cases have been reported in the past week.

The graph below shows the number of cases in Herefordshire by date of test, and not the day when the cases were published by PHE. There can be a few days while waiting for tests results to be returned from laboratories.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 22,885 over the period, to 917,575.

Herefordshire's cases were among the 79,787 recorded across the West Midlands, a figure which rose by 2,228 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Latest figures from NHS England, which cover up to 4pm on Monday (October 26) show that no more patients had died with coronavirus at the Wye Valley NHS Trust.

The figures show 59 people have so far died at hospitals in Herefordshire after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Government said a further 367 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Tuesday. This brings the UK total to 45,365.

The number of deaths reported on Tuesday is the highest daily figure since May 27, when 422 deaths were reported.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 61,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.
