A WREXHAM-born travel expert has created her a new way for people to explore the world without having to even step foot outside.

Chelsea Dickenson usually spends her time helping thousands of people find cheap holidays on her social media channels but, due to the coronavirus pandemic, that all changed.

Inspired by the online escape rooms that have popped up during lockdown, she set about making a virtual holiday that would allow people to learn new languages, interact with locals and get some travel inspiration for the future.

The end result is 'Dash Across The Globe: Europe', an online travel game where players have to travel between London and Istanbul as quickly and as cheaply as possible.

Completing challenges en route to unlock the next stages, people will also be asked to make decisions that could totally change the course of their journey.

Tasks involve watching videos for clues, exploring maps, calculating travel times and searching the internet for answers.

Chelsea says it’s the perfect replacement to a Zoom quiz and you may find you learn something on the way too.

You can also play against friends and family too in three different ways:

  • Simple: Who can choose the fastest route?
  • Timed: Who can complete the activity the quickest?
  • Competitive: Who can choose the fastest route AND complete the activity in the quickest time (this one gets fun!!)

Chelsea said: “I just wanted to create something that captures the excitement of travelling without the complications of going away at the moment.

“I also think it’s great to highlight how easy it can be to travel for cheap from country to country and so I really hope it encourages people to look into booking their own cheap trip once the pandemic is over. But for now, I love that it’s bringing people together to explore the world.”

Dash Across The Globe: Europe costs £4.99 and the money will go towards the running of Chelsea’s new site and business, CheapHolidayExpert.com, which provides free advice and aims to help people travel more for less money.
