WALES looks set to be hit by poor weather conditions during the next couple of weeks, as the latest of this year's storms sweeps in.

Storm Aiden is expected to hit parts of the UK for at least the first two weeks of October, which will see downpours of rain and strong winds.

On October 1, temperatures look set to drop to as low as 5C in Powys, a stark difference to the warm conditions during lockdown.

The Met Office's Marco Petagna has warned that a severe change in the weather is on the cards.

In a Tweet, he said: "As I've been tweeting for a few days the end of this week could provide some fireworks in the world of UK weather...a deep area of low pressure looks likely

"In fact the set up looks perfect for generating some very wet and windy conditions."

The official forecast by the Met Office for this week shows that bad weather is likely.

Monday and Tuesday will see sunny intervals but will be changing to overcast before things change later in the week.

For the rest of the week, rain and clouds are to be expected with temperatures dropping.

The Met Office states that from Wednesday to Friday: "Becoming unsettled on Wednesday, with a wet and windy pattern for the coming days. Feeling rather cold. Some heavy rain at times with a risk of thunder."
