A WOMAN in her 20s has been arrested following a shooting last night in Girlington.

Police were called to Blythe Avenue at 9.49pm yesterday following a reports a car had been shot at, and officers could be seen today conducting a fingertip search of the street.

A large cordon around the quiet cul-de-sac remains in place today as police continue their enquiries.

The suspect, who was in a black Seat Leon, drove off from the scene, and the car was later recovered by officers.

No one was injured in the shooting, but damage to the victim's vehicle was consistent with a firearms discharge, police have confirmed.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Farrell, of Bradford District, said: “We believe this was a targeted attack involving individuals known to each other.

"Thankfully no one was injured but the consequences could have easily been much worse.

“The use of firearms on our streets is extremely concerning and I would appeal for anyone who has information on this incident to contact police so we can take all of those responsible off our streets.

“Extensive enquiries remain ongoing today and there will be an increased policing presence in the area while investigations are carried out and to provide reassurance to our communities.”
