A COTSWOLD pub has received the coveted title of the Best Pub for Food in Sawday’s Pub Awards.

The Ebrington Arms in Chipping Campden won the title in the prestigious awards after being recognised for serving "fabulous food, carefully sourced, in a relaxed atmosphere".

The awards entry for The Ebrington Arms, written by the Sawday’s team, said: "This gorgeous old stone pub with a weathered wooden bar is leading the charge for sustainable, superb food from within its historic walls.

"The sourcing has earnt landlords Claire and Jim a rare three-star rating from The Soil Association, meaning they always use 50-70 per cent organic ingredients. The menu they form is a perfect blend of creativity and simplicity, with pub classics and inventive dishes all serving as a showcase for the incredible local produce.

Claire Alexander, co-owner of The Ebrington Arms, said: “We’re over the moon to win this, especially as we were chosen over 500 other pubs.

"We’ve held two AA Rosettes for over a decade but this is a really special award from the guys at Sawdays.

Meanwhile the pub also had been awarded the Good Food Award for Gastro Pubs 2020.

The Good Food Award entry said: "Over the last 12 months we have evaluated customer feedback and this Gastro Pub has demonstrated exceptional levels of food quality, service and value when compared to our industry benchmarks in their category.

"In recognition of this achievement they have been duly awarded the 2020 Good Food Award for Gastro Pubs."
