The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Herefordshire increased by three over the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 923 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Friday (September 4) in Herefordshire, up from 920 the same time on Thursday.

The rate of infection in Herefordshire now stands at 479 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 525.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 1,940 over the period, to 342,351.

Herefordshire's cases were among the 31,077 recorded across the West Midlands, a figure which rose by 207 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

As of 4pm on Thursday, 57 people were known to have died at the Wye Valley NHS Trust after testing positive for Covid-19. The most recent death was on July 15.
