POLICE are warning pet owners in Herefordshire that markings found on walls and driveways could be related to dog thefts.
West Mercia Police officers said they have been made aware of markings found by residents on their walls and driveways in Tarrington, near Ledbury.
"At present we do not know what these markings are but they could possibly be linked to thefts of dogs which has been have been happening on our border forces," cops said.
"Please stay vigilant and report any markings or suspicious activity to 101.
"If you see any of these markings we suggest you clean it off and check your security at your properties."
It comes after Gloucestershire Constabulary said a rottweiler was stolen from a house near Ross-on-Wye on Sunday (August 30).
The theft in Drybrook in the Forest of Dean was reported shortly after 5am.
There have also been at least three other incidents in Gloucestershire where dogs have been stolen, police added.
