BROMSGROVE Sporting have been handed a home game to kick off the new Southern League Premier Central season.

The Rouslers will host Coalville Town at the Victoria Ground on Saturday, September 19 in the campaign's curtain-raiser.

Sporting will follow that up with trips to Biggleswade Town and Rushall Olympic on September 26 and 29 respectively.

In the meantime, pre-season friendlies have been coming thick and fast with the Rouslers held to a 2-2 draw away to Highgate United a week last Tuesday.

Liam Spink scored after 36 seconds with Mikey Taylor getting Bromsgrove's second in the first minute after the interval.

Thursday's encounter with Worcester City had to be postponed after a day of heavy rain would have meant a lot of damage to the pitch.

There was another win last Saturday by 3-1 at Leicester Road as Kieren Westwood again gave Bromsgrove a good start in the second minute.

The hosts equalised but a Mikey Taylor penalty regained the lead after Josh Ezewele was clattered in the box and Josh Quaynor headed the third early in the second half.

On Bank Holiday Monday at Sutton Coldfield Town, Quaynor was on the scoresheet again, this time curling in a beautiful free-kick to give his side the lead before Will Shorrock got the second to seal a 2-0 win.

This Thursday (September 3), Sporting host Hednesford Town in a friendly at the Victoria Ground. Tickets purchased for the Worcester match will be valid at this game.

Then on Saturday, Leamington are the visitors and with the Government allowing a crowd of up to 600 it will be pay on the gate.

Meanwhile, Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies team played their first ever match last Sunday in a friendly at The Victoria Ground against Meadow Park with the home side winning 4-0 in a game watched by just over 100 spectators.
