SECONDARY schools in Bromsgrove have been sharing pictures and videos to let pupils what their 'new normal' school will look like ahead of students' return to education this week.

South Bromsgrove High School has posted a number of images on social media so parents and pupils know what to expect of their new 'socially-distanced' classrooms.

Desks are in uniforms rows with everyone facing the front - and there are also markings on the floor to maintain social distancing between teachers and pupils.

The school has also introduced a one-way system around the building with signs and instructions on doors, walls and stairs.

A spokesperson for the school said: "Our site staff have worked hard over the summer to ensure we have a safe return.

"Every part of the school has had a thorough clean over the summer and classrooms have been prepared for pupils' return.

"Every classroom will have hand sanitiser and a cleaning kit.

"Some stairwells will be only for going up, some will be just for travelling down between floors.

"The main staircase from reception will be two-way with clear signage to show which side is up and which side is down.

Bromsgrove Advertiser:

"Corridors and stairs can be busy places, so to avoid overcrowding, the site staff have created a one-way system around the building."

North Bromsgrove High School, meanwhile, have released a video on their social media platforms and Youtube welcoming pupils back.

Headteacher Nick Gibson said: "We can't get wait to get the new term started.

"The school has undergone a significant deep clean, all of our classrooms have been de-cluttered and all desks are front-facing so no pupils will be facing each other.

Many schools are set to reopen fully on Wednesday and Thursday after months of only being open for children of key workers during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

And while a brief resumption in June and July was optional, this return to school is now compulsory with the Government saying parents must send their children back to class.
