A MAN in his thirties has been killed in a crash on the M50 in Herefordshire.

It happened near Ledbury in the early hours of this morning (Monday).

Initially, the motorway was closed eastbound between junction two for Ledbury and junction one (A38). One eastbound lane remains closed and police are still at the scene.

At 11am police confirmed the crash was fatal, adding: "Our thoughts are with his [the victim's] friends and family."

Highways England said earlier: "The M50 in Herefordshire is closed eastbound between junction 2 and junction 1 due to serious road traffic collision.

"All emergency services are currently working at the scene in a response being led by West Mercia Police. 

"West Mercia Police are conducting collision investigation works with the carriageway likely to remain closed through the day.
