A HEREFORDSHIRE care home have helped a couple to celebrate their diamond wedding.

Hugh and Aline Black married in Glasgow, Scotland, on July 30, 1960, at Bourne Church.

To celebrate the couple's lockdown anniversary, their family were led around Broomy Hill nursing home to bagpipe music played by piper Simon Addison.

Hugh, a long-term resident at Broomy Hill, met with his family in the beautiful gardens of the care home.

Carers and staff gave a massive round of applause and celebratory cheers. Aline was overwhelmed and emotional, she has not seen Hugh since February due to the Covid-19 precautions.

Family and friends celebrated with a tea made by the kitchen team, and chilled buck fizz.

Sadly, because he is considered vulnerable to coronavirus, Hugh could only be seen at a safe distance, and not touched or hugged.

Aline gave a speech, thanking the staff at Broomy Hill for all their hard work to help celebrate the couples special day.
