HEAVY rain battered Herefordshire last night, leading to flash flooding as thunderstorms struck.

The Met Office issued an amber alert for thunderstorms in the county, while flooding hit roads including Three Elms Road, Grandstand Road, Holmer Road, Holme Lacy Road, and the Asda Roundabout.

Shoppers reported being evacuated from Asda and Tesco as the rain made its way into the buildings.
