A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been charged following an alleged group attack in Wylds Lane, Worcester.

Marius Anton Roman, of Poplar Road, Smethwick, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and causing injury by dangerous driving, and was set to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates Court today (August 12).

In the alleged attack, a 21-year-old man was at the junction of Vincent Road and Wylds Lane when a number of people got out of two cars and assaulted him. He suffered serious injuries and went to hospital.

Last week four other men, also from Smethwick, were charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in connection to the incident.

Aurica-Marian Muti, 18, Christi-Daniel Stefanescu, 19, Ionut-Alexandra Tudor, 18, Remus-cosmin Vladutoaia, 24, all appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court last Saturday (August 8), and were remanded in custody.

Meanwhile a 31-year-old woman, also from Smethwick, was arrested last week in connection to the investigation, and has been bailed to return to the police station at a later date. She has not been named.

Police had earlier said they were treating the incident as an attempted murder. Detective Inspector Tony Garner said: “We’ve been carrying out a significant operation to identify and locate suspects since the incident happened. We are now at a stage in the investigation where we can turn to the local community and ask for their help. If you were in the area and you witnessed the incident or saw two cars, a red Mercedes and a burgundy Mercedes, acting suspiciously then we want to hear from you.”
