A Llanfair Caereinion mother is "begging" for witnesses to come forward after a quad bike accident left her 16-year-old son with life-changing injuries.

Daryl Andrew was a passenger in the quad bike Thursday, August 6, on the B4390 between Manafon and Berriew, at around 6.55pm.

"Daryl's sustained life changing and very serious injuries after the incident," said his mother, Janet Andrew.

She is asking for anyone who saw Daryl between 6.45pm and 7.10pm to come forward and contract the police to help "piece the jigsaw together".

Daryl Andrew was wearing the same hoodie and boots in this photograph as he was on the day of the accident

She has shared a photograph of her son to help with the appeal - where he is wearing the same hoodie and boots as he was on the day of the accident.

She said: "Daryl is still very poorly and I am begging anyone that has seen Daryl or even recognises his clothing to contact the police. Even if you briefly saw him. Please contact the police."

Janet said that "his life how he knew it" was taken away from him on the night of the accident. This appeal, to find out what happened, will help Daryl in his recovery, she said - which is at the moment, a "long way off".

Dyfed-Powys Police have clarified that Daryl is 16 and not 15 as previously stated and that he was one of four people travelling in the quad bike, no three.

The police said: "We don’t believe any other vehicles were involved but are appealing for any extra information that can help us establish the full circumstances around what happened."

Anyone with any details or dash camera footage of the vehicle or incident is encouraged to contact PC 1169 White at Dyfed-Powys Police Serious Collision investigation unit on 101, quoting incident reference DP-20200806-326.
