NINE new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Herefordshire over the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 875 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Saturday (July 25) in Herefordshire, nine more than at the same time on Friday.

The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.

Although not confirmed, it is thought the increase is related to the coronavirus outbreak at AS Green and Co in Mathon.

On Friday, Herefordshire Council and Public Health England confirmed the number of cases at the vegetable farm near Ledbury has risen to 134, with the previous total 120.
