THE young actors of Evesham's Festival Players group have managed to keep rehearsing for their next production – the Agatha Christie murder-mystery-comedy, Spider's Web.
And this is despite the problems caused firstly by the lockdown and, now that restrictions have eased, with social distancing.
Virtual rehearsals on Zoom or Instagram, organised by Alex McCullough, have given way to out-of-doors meetings.
Four or five young actors have been at director Eric Jones’ Evesham house three times a week, on a rota depending on which scene they are in.
Mr Jones’ neighbours are now being treated to a free audible performance of extracts from the play three times a week!
Hopes are that Government restrictions will be relaxed enough to allow the play to be performed early in September.
Spider’s Web is the second most successful Agatha Christie play of the 1950s, after the record-breaking The Mousetrap.
Anybody who had already bought tickets from The Almonry for the Evesham Arts Centre performance can get a refund.
If performances can be arranged, or even re-arranged for different dates, the group will offer a free seat for NHS workers, with photo ID, who have been under enormous pressure for these few months.
