POLICE have charged a man with the murder of his wife.

Raymond Hoadley is accused of killing Jacqueline Hoadley at her home in Broad Oak Close, Eastbourne.

The body of 58-year-old Mrs Hoadley was found and the alarm was raised on Sunday at 2pm.

Police cordoned off the street and forensics experts were called in to inspect the scene.

She was a well known disability rights campaigner, and former Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd led tributes to her.

Meanwhile the Chailey Heritage Foundation, which looks after disabled children, said: “Our whole community is deeply saddened by the tragic situation and our thoughts and condolences are with the family and Jackie’s friends at this time.”

Raymond Hoadley, of Willowfield Road, Eastbourne, was arrested and was today charged by detectives. He appeared in court via a virtual link and was remanded to appear at Crown Court on Monday.
