A MAN from Wem has helped raise a sum of money for charity by standing to attention outside his house.
Ted Davies, chairman of the Wem branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL), stood outside his house in Windmill Meadow for several hours to raise money for various groups, including the RBL, Blind Veterans UK and the RAF Association.
Ted undertook the challenge to stand in full regalia after the planned service to honour Armed Forces Day, on Saturday, June 27, was cancelled because of Covid-19.
After completing the challenge, Ted thanked all those who donated.
"I managed to raise a fantastic £170 for service charities," said Ted. "They are Royal Britain Legion with £70, Blind Veterans UK with £50, and RAF Association with £50.
"That is fair share on the help given by each organisation. The money will be sent out next week.
"I thank all who donated and assisted."
