Nominated in the Health Care Team Award is Newstead House, Hereford, where manager Alison Ough, who nominated her team, says “they all consistently go above and beyond their role boundaries to ensure the residents that live at Newstead House receive warm and friendly care in a homely environment.

Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are always willing to help, not only the residents, but their families and friends as well.

“Newstead House has a cohesive and committed team who embody the word ‘team’.

All departments work seamlessly together and help each other to achieve the best outcome for the residents and the team.

Communication between the different teams is key to the success of the home, and all the staff who work at Newstead House have the best interests of the residents at heart and understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration in getting the right result.

“Newstead House has well trained and motivated staff and there is a high level of staff retention.

Due to the impact of effective team working levels of absence and sickness are very low.

When people are needing support, their colleagues work together to support them and are flexible and adaptable to change.

This means that both our residents and staff benefit from working within a environment that has a strong and consistent team.

There is a lot of fun and laughter and a number of families have commented that Newstead House does not feel like a care home.”
