OFFICIAL figures show that two more cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Herefordshire, meaning 13 people have tested positive in the past week.

Public Health England figures show that 461 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am Thursday morning (June 11) in Herefordshire, up from 459 the same time on Wednesday. A week before, there were 448 cases.

It means cases have increased by less than 0.5% over the last 24 hours, on a par with the rate of increase across the UK.

They were among the 26,083 cases recorded across the midlands, a figure which rose by 78 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Across the UK, 291,409 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Thursday, up from 290,143 at the same point on Wednesday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show. As of 5pm on Wednesday, 41,279 had died.

This number includes 53 people who have died at the Wye Valley NHS Trust after testing positive for the virus.
