ONE further coronavirus death has been recorded at Wye Valley Trust in the latest figures released by NHS England.

Figures show 51 people had died in hospital at Wye Valley NHS Trust as of 5pm on Tuesday (June 2). The death reported today occurred on May 31.

As of 4.43pm yesterday, there were 444 confirmed coronavirus cases in Herefordshire, up by one from the previous day.

Currently, the data from NHS England shows the most recent deaths at the Trust occurred on Friday, May 22.

Across England, 179 new coronavirus related deaths were recorded, with 39 of those occurring in the Midlands.

England's total coronavirus deaths now stand at 27,045.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.

This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the last 24 hours may actually have taken place days earlier.

NHS England guidance states: "Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure."

Only deaths that occur in hospitals where the patient has tested positive for Covid-19 are recorded, with deaths in the community excluded, such as those in care homes.
