ANOTHER 13 people have died in the North-East and North Yorkshire after testing positive for coronavirus.
Latest figures published on Tuesday afternoon confirmed a total of 1,640 Covid-19 patients had died in the region since the outbreak began.
Across the country, hospitals in England reported a further 143 patient deaths in the past 48 hours.
A spokesperson for NHS England said: "A further 143 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 26,865.
"Patients were aged between 36 and 100 years old. Eight of the 143 patients (aged between 48 and 91) had no known underlying health condition.
"Their families have been informed.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 237 was 231
South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust – 320 no change
Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust -113 no change
York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 210 no change
Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust- 66 was 64
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (mental health) – 7 no change
Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (mental health) – 7 no change
Total: 1,640 was 1,627 the day before
