HEREFORD Sixth Form College is preparing to reopen next month with new social distancing and hygiene measures.

Principal Peter Cooper has sent an email to students detailing the college's intentions to return to face to face lessons on June 1.

He says the college is working towards that date, however this could be subject to change.

"In line with Government guidance we are planning to return to college in June in small groups with appropriate social distancing and hygiene measures implemented," the email reads.

"I will provide more details on these measures nearer the time.

"The date of our return to face to face lessons is still by no means certain, however it is currently planned to be 1st June 2020.

"It is important that we work towards this date and give you an idea of expectations."

Mr Cooper said the college intends to use the first few weeks of the return to classes as a trial period to explore new ways of working.

They will be asking for feedback from students and refine it should this be necessary.

"We understand that some students will find it difficult to attend college due to transport or specific health reasons, either for themselves or their family," the email continues.

"Although we would encourage you to attend if you can, should you wish to continue your lessons from home in this initial phase this will be perfectly possible.

"We will be continuing an online service which may include a new approach to allow you to share the lesson experience online in some areas. "

"It is important to emphasise here that whether in college or not, you should be continuing with your studies and anyone who has found it particularly difficult to work remotely should make an extra effort to attend in person. "
