Children, young people and their families can access a range of support to maintain their mental wellbeing during the current pandemic

Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, which runs mental health services across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, has this month re-launched its Now We’re Talking campaign to highlight the range of support available to help young people and parents cope better in the current circumstances.

Support includes Kooth, a free online resource for children, through to more conventional mental health support for young people experiencing serious mental health problems. For parents who may be feeling the strain there are lots of resources which can be accessed online or via self-referral too, including the Let’s Talk service in Herefordshire and the Healthy Minds team in Worcestershire which support those experiencing more common issues such as stress, worry or low mood.

Dr Ben Rogers, service lead for psychological interventions – children, young people and families at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust said: “The coronavirus pandemic is having a significant impact on how children and families live their lives, making it more difficult to use routine support structures such as school or face to face contact with friends.

"We know that many young people have experienced worries about coronavirus and the impact of the pandemic. It is important that young people, like everyone else, access the right help and support when they need it.”
