RESIDENTS in a Herefordshire village have been told to be vigilant by police after the rider of an off-road motorbike hit a person.

Police were alerted to someone riding the bike in the Moreton-on-Lugg area hit a person and tried to ride off, but in doing so he hit a lamppost and broke his collarbone.

Hereford Cops said on Facebook the rider the blew 50mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath at the roadside, the legal limit being 35mcg, and his bike was seized.

After the incident on April 24, police said they have received further calls about off-road motorbikes in the area "causing a nuisance to the local residents".

They added: "As a local policing team we have increased patrol in the general area, but we could do with your help.

"We are asking local residents to report any further issues regarding off-road motorbikes and scramblers being ridden in the area.

"Please call us on 101 and give as much detail as possible, any video footage would also be helpful.

"A lot of these bikes aren’t road legal therefore they won’t have insurance or tax and the drivers, often won’t have a valid licence."
