HUSBAND and wife Colin and Kath Taylor are World War II/1940s re-enactors, attending Living History events all over the country.

On Friday, May 8 – VE Day – they should have been on Guernsey to join the Channel Island's Liberation Day parade in their wartime Jeep, but after the cancellation of the event have decided to celebrate at home.

Mr and Mrs Taylor feel that the important anniversary should be marked properly, so they are putting on their glad rags, hanging out bunting, eating cake and drinking tea from the safety of their driveway, where the Jeep will be parked.

Some of their neighbours on Greyfriars Avenue, Hereford, are keen to join in.

Mrs Taylor said: "I will probably put out a small display of 1940s household items including toys and games, weather permitting.

"Some of us are still living in chaos following the flooding of our homes in February as the pandemic has put paid to getting any workmen to come and put us back to normal. But we are putting on a very stiff upper lip and carrying on!"
