DAYTRIPPERS from Herefordshire were stopped on their way to the beach after their loud exhaust caught the attention of police in Ceredigion.

Officers in the Welsh county spotted the Ford Fiesta, which was carrying two passengers, while carrying out road patrols.

Police said the Gloucester driver and her two friends from Hereford, told officers they were on a roadtrip to the seaside.

The journey is not classed as essential travel during the coronavirus lockdown.

The matter was reported to the court, and the three trippers were escorted away.

The incident follows on from a previous breach of lockdown rules reported by police in Brecon at the weekend.

Police said people from Hereford were among those issued with fixed penalty notices and turned away from the Brecon Beacons.
